SURF'S UP!!! SURFING USA!!!
In 2007 an amputee recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center asked if we would take him surfing. He had surfed most of his life and had lost his leg in Fallujah, Iraq and wanted to surf again. We know that if one suggest doing something, there are ten others who want to do it too.
Believing that surfing would not only motivate but inspire the guys to reach farther and do more, we began organizing and raising the funds to take them surfing. We teamed up with Amazing Surf Adventures and Richard Schmidt Surf School and have surfed in great places along the Central Coast of California.
Our first surf trip consisted of fourteen wounded Soldiers and Marines. Since that time, we've taken over seventy wounded Service Members surfing. The salt water is a tremendous healing agent. The sea takes all the stress away, puts worry on hold and rejuvenates the spirit.
Single amputees learn to surf with their water leg, bi-lateral amputees have learned to do hand stands on the surf board while taking the waves. Tripple amputees ride the waves on the boogie board.
We appreciate and thank all the surfers and volunteers who come out to help! Thank You!!
A SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO AMAZING SURF ADVENTURES AND RICHARD SCHMIDT SURF SCHOOL.
